Now You CAN Have Something SWEET Without the Tooth Decay

Tingz sweets available at Smile Essential

dentists in leicester

We are loving these sweets from Peppersmiths. They’re made with natural ingredients and a sugar alternative called Xylitol. Most living things produce Xylitol, cats, dogs, flowers and even us humans produce around 15 grams a day. The Xylitol in these sweets comes from Beech trees.

The amazing thing about these little Xylitol sweeties is that they actually help reduce plaque and help to prevent tooth decay. A dentists dream treat!

While these Tingz sweets are aimed at children they make a perfect treat for all of the family and at only 36 calories a pack they’re diet friendly too. Even the British Dental Health Foundation is endorsing these tooth friendly sweets.

You can buy them from us or online.

Need a Reason to Smile? Here’s 10…

1. Smiling Makes Us Attractive

We are drawn to people who smile. There is an attraction factor. We want to know a smiling person and figure out what is so good. Frowns, scowls and grimaces all push people away — but a smile draws them in.

2. Smiling Changes Our Mood

Next time you are feeling down, try putting on a smile. There’s a good chance you mood will change for the better. Smiling can trick the body into helping you change your mood.

3. Smiling Is Contagious

When someone is smiling they lighten up the room, change the moods of others, and make things happier. A smiling person brings happiness with them. Smile lots and you will draw people to you.

4. Smiling Relieves Stress

Stress can really show up in our faces. Smiling helps to prevent us from looking tired, worn down, and overwhelmed. When you are stressed, take time to put on a smile. The stress should be reduced and you’ll be better able to take action.

5. Smiling Boosts Your Immune System

Smiling helps the immune system to work better. When you smile, immune function improves possibly because you are more relaxed. Prevent the flu and colds by smiling.

6. Smiling Lowers Your Blood Pressure

When you smile, there is a measurable reduction in your blood pressure. Give it a try if you have a blood pressure monitor at home. Sit for a few minutes, take a reading. Then smile for a minute and take another reading while still smiling. Do you notice a difference?

7. Smiling Releases Endorphins, Natural Pain Killers and Serotonin

Studies have shown that smiling releases endorphins, natural pain killers, and serotonin. Together these three make us feel good. Smiling is a natural drug.

8. Smiling Lifts the Face and Makes You Look Younger

The muscles we use to smile lift the face, making a person appear younger. Don’t go for a face lift, just try smiling your way through the day — you’ll look younger and feel better.

9. Smiling Makes You Seem Successful

Smiling people appear more confident, are more likely to be promoted, and more likely to be approached. Put on a smile at meetings and appointments and people will react to you differently.

10. Smiling Helps You Stay Positive

Try this test: Smile. Now try to think of something negative without losing the smile. It’s hard. When we smile our body is sending the rest of us a message that “Life is Good!” Stay away from depression, stress and worry by smiling.

Kidz Week at the Dentist…

dentist leicesterLets be honest most adults wish that they had looked after their teeth better as a child. And they probably despair when they’re own kids fail to adhere to their tales of wisdom. If you’re a child in Leicester nowadays then the chances are you will have tooth decay. Children in Leicester are the most likely in the whole of the England to have tooth decay.

We are here to help! On Monday 18th August until Thursday 21st August, the dentist will be a great place for kids this summer. From Frozen on the TVs in surgery, fun games, a party bag for all kids that week, competitions to win loom bands! And many more surprises, your kids will be brushing their teeth and ditching the sugar before you know it!

Prevention, Prevention, Prevention. Prevention really is the key to dental decay. Brushing twice a day and limiting sugary foods is a major part in preventing tooth decay. But did you know that your dentist can apply a fluoride varnish to teeth to help better protect them?

You are not alone Getting children to brush their teeth properly can be a battle! We hear all sorts of stories about the length at which some children go to to avoid this including our own! Sometimes a word from the dentist can set them on the straight and narrow, but even then it can take a few check up appointments. Consistency is key.

Not a patient of the practice. We believe coming to the dentist as a family is the best option. There are no charges for children at the dentist and we will see all children whose parents are patients at the practice. Most of our patients are on our membership plan as it’s a really easy way to budget for your dental treatment.

Terrified of Coming to the Dentist

Smile Essential dentist Leicester

To Smile Essential,

Thank you so much for the excellent care I received from Nik and his nurse. I was terrified of coming to dentist, to the point of tears and nearly not going through the door. But the girls on the front desk were so lovely and welcoming.

My head was pounding with sheer fright, but Nik came to take me the surgery and made me feel so relaxed. Nothing was rushed, not even the treatment. Nik’s dental nurse was lovely to me as well.

Now after all the treatment I have had I will not be afraid to come to your dental practice again. Thank you Nik very much.

Ms. P.P, Leicestershire

p.s I could even bring my Cliff Richard CD, to play during treatment. Which was a real bonus.
